My books are getting antsy

The library is in the process of being installed. I will have much to say about this particular room in the weeks to come, but I thought I would put up some progress pictures.

I'm already worried this won't be enough room.

Mainly fiction along the wall on the right.

Art books go on the deeper shelves on the end wall.

If the room was wider, there would have been shelves on this wall to. But being a narrow room I had to settle for this really lovely wood paneling.

Questions about how the new stone surround will meet up with the chimney breast.

Looking from the hall into the library.

    1. Just think how great it will look with actual books.

  2. Can't wait to see more in progress pictures...not to mention once you are in and the fire is lit. Looks great!

    1. Things are happening quite fast now so I am actually holding back on some of the photos we took this past weekend. But the thing is, by the time we go back in a few days, there is bound to be much more to report on.

  3. Nothing like having a room which has a wall (or two) full of books. And your shelves look to be coming along beautifully. A few years ago I began to realize that I didn't have to own every book I wanted to read and have begun to divest myself of a few now and then. Of course I have some that I would never part with, but I have found that trying to sell hardback books, even in pristine condition, in this day and time is difficult. So the best one can do is find a friend or someone else who might love them as much as you do.

    1. I've had some of the same issues. I also decided when I was packing up for our temporary move while the house was being worked on, that I really don't want to collect books just for the sake of collecting them. I even got rid of some highly cherished sets that I owned solely because they are pretty.

    1. Jared, sorry for the very tardy reply. It is quite a narrow room. I don't have the exact width at my finger tips but I would say about 9 feet.
